Producer

 

Key Responsibilities

With the support of other members of the production team and the Pender Solstice Theatre Society (STS) board of directors, the producer is responsible for the overall financial and managerial functions of a production. He/she oversees all aspects of mounting the production.

The Producer

• Develops a production budget and tracks costs.

• Acts as the principal coordinator between the director, the actors, the crew and the Board members.

• Chooses performance dates and times.

• Develops a marketing and advertising strategy for the production.

• With the director, has a key say in the selection of personnel for the production.

• Collaborates with all team members to plan a production timeline and deadlines.

• Organizes the logistics of the audition(s).

• Maintains a timeline of rehearsals, photo shoots, program design and printing deadlines.

• Prepares or assigns responsibility for the production program.

• Places advertising in all appropriate media.

• Arranges a front of house concession with interested community groups.

• Co-ordinates the end of production set breakdown and hall clean-up.

• Works with the Director and Stage Manager to prepare a post-production report to the STS board.
