Solstice Theatre is doing it’s part in trying to slow the potential spread of the Covid-19 virus and that unfortunately meant that we had decided to postpone our production of ‘4 Weddings and an Elvis’. It will be postponed until October. If you have already purchased tickets don’t worry, those tickets will still be valid for the shows in October.
The cast and crew has worked hard on the show and was ready to build the stage and put the final touches on the performances. But despite how much we love getting into different roles and characters we could not escape the reality of the spread of this virus. At the end of the last meeting we were however in for a treat. Our Elvis (Matt Adolf) gave us an amazing send-off performance in full costume that Nancy Westell had finished, complete with wig, sideburns, glasses and everything. If anything it grew our desire to perform and also solidified our decision to postpone as this is a hilarious theatre play you don’t want to miss and everyone on Pender should have a chance to see.
We have also postponed the play reading of ‘Here on the Flight Path’ to a date to be determined later and we are looking at options for our AGM. We are also contemplating activities we can do with everyone staying at home and when those plans solidify we will announce them. If you want to stay up to date of all things regarding Solstice please consider joining our theatre society, membership is only $5. Send an email to [email protected]. We hope you will stay healthy and we look forward to our island returning to the outgoing, performing-art-loving community it is.
